Terms of Service

Last updated: April 2026

Welcome to Advisely. These terms govern your use of the Advisely website and services. By creating an account or using Advisely, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.

1. What Advisely is

Advisely is an AI-powered course planning assistant for students at The Village School in Houston, TX. It helps you explore courses, understand prerequisites, and think through your academic path.

Advisely is not a replacement for your school counselor. Its suggestions are informational only. Always verify important decisions (graduation requirements, college applications, course changes) with an actual counselor or teacher before acting on them.

2. Who can use it

Advisely is intended for students, parents, teachers, and counselors connected to The Village School. You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you're under 18, your parent or guardian should know you're using Advisely.

3. Your account

You're responsible for keeping your password safe. Don't share your account with anyone. If you think someone has accessed your account, reset your password immediately and contact us.

You may delete your account at any time from the settings page. This permanently removes your conversations, memory, and uploaded documents.

4. Content you provide

You keep ownership of anything you upload or write — transcripts, chat messages, notes. By using Advisely, you grant us permission to process that content to provide you with the service (for example, sending your questions and relevant documents to our AI provider so you can get answers).

Don't upload:

  • Other people's transcripts or private info without permission
  • Anything illegal, harmful, or intended to harass others
  • Content that infringes copyright or privacy

5. AI responses

Advisely's answers are generated by large language models. They can be wrong, outdated, or incomplete. Don't rely on Advisely as the sole source of truth for important academic decisions. Cross-check with the official curriculum guide and your counselor.

6. Acceptable use

Don't:

  • Try to break, exploit, or gain unauthorized access to the service
  • Use the service to generate harmful or deceptive content
  • Automate or scrape the service in ways that burden our systems
  • Impersonate someone else or misrepresent your affiliation with the school

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

7. Service availability

Advisely is a student-built project. We do our best to keep it running, but we can't guarantee uptime, performance, or that features won't change. The service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Advisely and its creators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service — including any academic outcome, scheduling decision, or missed opportunity.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll notify you through the app or via email. Your continued use of Advisely after an update means you accept the new terms.
